Bob was first elected to the Rogue Valley Sewer Services Board of Directors in 1970 and served continuously for over 48 years.
Bob’s vision and tenacity has helped Rogue Valley Sewer Services forge a strong relationship with the City of Medford and others to provide sewer collection and treatment for the majority of Jackson County residents.
Bob’s tenure saw the cities of Talent, Phoenix, Central Point, Eagle Point, Jacksonville and White City abandon their ineffective sewage treatment facilities and connect to the regional system. Under Bob’s leadership many rural areas close to the cities have replaced their failing septic systems with permanent sewer connections, contributing to improvements in our regional water quality and sewer infrastructure.
The expertise that Rogue Valley Sewer Services has developed under Bob’s leadership has allowed RVSS to expand its services to provide stormwater quality management to some regions and sanitary sewer services to the cities of Shady Cove and Gold Hill.
Bob’s approach to governing was to always do what is right for the customers and the system, even when that is the most difficult option. The results speak for themselves. Over the past 50 years we have seen improvements in water quality and economic health in the region, due, in no small part, to the efforts of Bob Dunn.
Carl Tappert, Rogue Valley Sewer Services General Manager stated: “Bob was the heart and soul of our organization. We all looked forward to his visits when he would share stories of his amazingly interesting life. He was part of every major decision for nearly 50 years. We’ll never be able to replace Bob, but the values he built into this organization will live on.”
